The Oct 23 and 24th at 2004 Mansfield DSWAC Seminar was a monumental challenge. Six different types of stones were presented to us for using in the training of beginners to build dry stone walls with. There was irregular Digby Water Rock, many many tonnes of broken 1 inch flagstone, some irregular field stone covered in mud, various quantities of 2nds of quarried dolomite limestone and a huge pile of melon shaped River Rock with only a small pile of flat quarried granite looking like it wanted to be made into a dry stone wall. 14 students both days threw themselves into it (mud and all) and came up with some pretty neat examples of what you can do when you put your heart into it.
